Job Title : AVIATION SECURITY AGENT

Sat & Sun 07 : 00  - 19 : 00 Pay Rate £8.44 per hour.

Reporting to : Duty Manager

Job objectives and responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Security Opertions Manager through the security supervisors / duty managers to undertake aviation security duties at Birmingham Airport, in line with the National Aviation Security Programme and localised procedures.

Main duties

  • To control access of persons into the CP (Critical Part)
  • Responsible for the searching of all Vehicles into the CP.
  • To conduct body searches when required.
  • To carry liquid testing as and when required.
  • To carry out x-ray screening duties. (Successful completion of a colour efficiency eye test is required at interview)
  • To perform all other required duties to the necessary CAA / DFT standards.
  • To respond to any emergency as and when required.
  • To carry out foot patrols.
  • To be compliant with Aviation security local operating procedures , pratices and protocols.
  • To undertake all mandatory security training as stipulated by the CAA.
  • To utilise all equipment only as you have been trained to.
  • To achieve an acceptable level of competence which is measured through relevant performance evalutions.
  • To act as Security Liaison for emergency services.
  • Any other reasonable instruction

Person Specification

  • Smart in appearance.
  • Able to shifts covering a 24hr period inclusive of weekends and bank holidays s and when required.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Well developed verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to write reports.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and also within a team.
  • Basic computer skills to operate certain equipment.
  • Capable of achieving and maintaining Level 1 DfT security standard.
  • Customer services focused.
  • Demonstrable interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communication with people at all levels including outside agencies and authorities.

Health and Safety responsibilities

  • Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times;
  • Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment;
  • Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received;
  • Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and / or via your divisional incident reporting system;
