JOB DETAILS

Flight Paramedic (FI) required by major US client (organisation supports the health and well-being of civilian and military workforce partners in austere, remote, and security challenged environments outside the continental United States)

 

SCOPE:

The Flight Paramedic (FI) shall be utilized to provide flight medical support for assigned program, along with other duties as determined by the primary medical providers (physicians, nurse practitioners and Physician Assistants) that do not exceed the scope of practice. Will be supervised clinically by primary medical provider(s).

All services shall be provided in accordance with established standards, principles and ethics of the profession, applicable professional specialty organizations, and the high-quality standard for which the organisation is recognized.

LOCATION:

This position is based in Iraq.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform and/or provide direction and support for the following services:

•Medical support as a flight medic during aero medical evacuations.

•Examines patients, performs physical exams.

•Documentation and maintenance of patient records.

•Therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, management of infection, EKG’s,

•Direct patient care, including at a minimum:

•Assessment and diagnosis.

•Intravenous/Intraosseous access.

•Venous blood draw.

•Endotracheal intubation.

•Medication administration.

•3/12 lead electrocardiogram (EKGs) interpretation.

•Knowledge of medications.

•Duties within their scope of practice as dictated by their license.

•Health promotion and preventative care.

•Aero medical evacuation missions.

•Other duties as may be assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications:

•High School diploma, GED or equivalent education required.

•Hold and maintain a current unrestricted U.S. (State) Paramedic license as well as Certification as a Paramedic by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT)

•Hold current license/certification as a Flight Paramedic Certified (FP-C) from the International Board of Specialty Certification (IBSC).

•A minimum of 7 years’ experience as a Paramedic is required

•2 years as a Flight Paramedic required.

•Must have at least 6 of the last 12 months working in a direct patient care setting.

•1 years’ experience as a NRCM or NPCP Instructor; graduate of the US Army Flight Instructor Course desirable

•Must hold and maintain current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and an advanced trauma course (PHTLS/TCCC/ITLS).

•Completion of Critical Care Emergency Medical Transport Program (CCEMTP) or other Critical Care training course and certification desirable.

•Experience as a military Flight Medic, Combat Medic or Navy Corpsman is desirable.

•Knowledge of advanced assessment and diagnosis, including body recovery procedures, wound repair, to include anesthesia, and suturing.

•Knowledge of advanced treatment modalities, including chest tube thoracotomy, venous access through cut down procedures, blood typing and cross match, and blood transfusion protocols.

•Knowledge of general sick call procedures, radiological (basic) analysis, material inventory principles.

•Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the medical care field.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

•Must have a valid, current U.S. Driver’s License

•Must have a current U.S. Passport.

•Defense Security Services clearance at a level of Secret is required.

•Will sign Foreign Service Agreement (FSA) and is bound to the terms and conditions of the FSA.

•Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write and communicate in English.

•Travel to and between CONUS and OCONUS locations is required.

•Performs duties in a safe manner. Follows the corporate safety policy.

•Participates and supports safety meetings, training and goals.

•Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility.

•Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

•No conditions that would prevent the wear of personal protective equipment; including protective mask, ballistic helmet, body armor and chemical/biological protective garments or conditions that would prevent the capability of donning, lifting or carrying of up to 70 lbs. of referenced gear while running to a bunker or protected area in the face of perceived or imminent danger.

•Capable of responding to a wide variety of operational circumstances, under extreme weather conditions, within a hostile environment

•May be exposed to extreme noise from aircraft, hostile fire, and other acts of aggression associated with this region

•May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and work in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, aircraft, and vehicles

•Required to kneel, bend, sit and lift heavy objects for extended periods of time

•Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be “medically and dentally fit” in accordance CHS Medical Readiness Guidelines and Policies and/or as dictated by the Client.

•Complete and pass a Class III Flying Duty Medical Examination

•Will be required to work and live in a potentially hostile environment, at remote locations, and under austere conditions

•Must attend and successfully complete weapons qualification, security training, psychological assessment and High Threat - Counter-terrorism training prior to deployment
