Job Description

The SAR Medic Lead shall be utilized to lead the team of Search and Rescue (SAR) Technicians.  The SAR Medic Lead is responsible for supporting the SAR Medic Supervisor with training, scheduling, personnel and logistical issues for the team. All SAR Team members will report to and follow the direction of the SAR Medic Supervisor.

Duties:

The primary responsibilities of the SAR Medic Lead include the following:

  • SAR Medic Lead will maintain a positive professional relationship with colleges, flight crew and ground personnel. 
  • SAR Medic Lead will support the SAR Medic Supervisor in daily activities.
  • SAR Medic Lead will assume the duties and responsibilities of the SAR Medic Supervisor when the supervisor is on leave.
  • SAR Medic Lead will submit daily and weekly reports to the SAR Medic Supervisor, Operations Manager and PMO staff. 

     All SAR Medics Shall have the skills and ability to perform:

  • Medical support as a SAR medic during CASEVAC.
  • Immediate Assessment and treatment of traumatic life-threatening injury.
  • Advance Airway Management
  • Advance Invasive Procedures
  • Endotracheal intubation
  • Familiarity with prolonged field care and pharmacology
  • Knowledge/administering of medications
  • Duties within their scope of practice as dictated by their license.
  • Conduct and maintain logistical operations as related to the SAR Team
  • Ability in assessing OCONUS regional/local medical treatment capabilities and developing and implementing CASEVAC plans and procedures
  • Understand the complexities of security, patrolling and light infantry tactics in relation to Search & Rescue operations in a high-threat environment.
  • Ability to carry and operate small weapon systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

  • 5 Years’ experience as a Special Operations Combat Medic (SOCM; 68W – W1), USAF Pararescueman, US Army 18-D Special Force Medic, US Navy SEAL Medic, or US Navy Corpsmen with 5 years in a Marine Force Recon unit. 
  • 1 years’ experience in a SAR Technician role in real world combat operations.
  • 2 years' experience on current program preferred.

Requirements:

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent education required
  • Hold and maintain a current and unrestricted U.S. (State) Paramedic license OR Certification as a Paramedic by the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) is required. A Higher Medical Degree with Board Certification (RN, BSN, PA-C, NP, MD, and DO) may also be accepted.
  • Must hold and maintain current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and must be proficient in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), Required to certify in TCCC or other advance trauma course within 12 months of hire (TCCC, ITLS or PHTLS).
  • Certification as a Flight Paramedic from the International Board of Specialty Certification (IBSC) preferred. (CCP-C may be considered)
  • Completion of Critical Care Emergency Medical Transport Program (CCEMTP) or other Critical Care Training course and certification desirable.
  • Must have at least 6 of the last 12 months working in a direct patient care setting.
  • Knowledge of general sick call procedures, clinic functions and material inventory principles.
  • Familiarity with standard policies (HIPPA), practices, and procedures within the medical care field.

 Other Requirements:

  • Must have a valid, current U.S. Driver’s License
  • Must have a current U.S. Passport.
  • Defense Security Services clearance at a level of Secret is required.
  • Will sign Foreign Service Agreement (FSA) and is bound to the terms and conditions of the FSA.
  • Shall be proficient in the ability to speak, write and communicate in English.
  • Travel to and between CONUS and OCONUS locations is required.
  • Performs duties in a safe manner. follows the corporate safety policy.
  • Participates and supports safety meetings, training and goals.
  • Ensures safe operating conditions within area of responsibility.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work area.

Physical Requirements:

  • No conditions that would prevent the wear of personal protective equipment; including protective mask, ballistic helmet, body armor and chemical/biological protective garments or conditions that would prevent the capability of donning, lifting or carrying of up to 70 lbs. of referenced gear while running to a bunker or protected area in the face of perceived or imminent danger.
  • Capable of responding to a wide variety of operational circumstances, under extreme weather conditions, within a hostile environment
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from aircraft, hostile fire, and other acts of aggression associated with this region
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and work in close proximity to moving mechanical parts, aircraft, and vehicles
  • Required to kneel, bend, sit and lift heavy objects for extended periods of time
  • Must be confirmed by a medical examination to be “medically and dentally fit” in accordance CHS Medical Readiness Guidelines and Policies and/or as dictated by the Client.
  • Will be required to work and live in a potentially hostile environment, at remote locations, and under austere conditions
  • Must attend and successfully complete weapons qualification, security training, psychological assessment and High Threat - Counter-terrorism training prior to deployment
