Job objectives and responsibilities
- To manage area of responsibility within the Centre ensuring a safe, secure and decent environment is provided in line with contractual, company and Home Office standards.
- Provide advice, coaching and support to staff in order to maximise the efficient and effective running of the residential units.
Main Duties
- Manage the provision of a safe, secure, clean and decent environment in which detainees feel protected and receive their rights in line with contractual obligations and company policies and procedures
- Assist in the development and delivery of your area of rresponsibility ensuring you meet contractual and company requirements
- Manage the implementation of all routines and systems, including documentation, and monitoring these to ensure the effective running of allocated units.
- Develop links with appropriate external stakeholders as required
- Deploy staff effectively and appropriately to ensure the cost effective smooth running of the operation.
- Ensure all operational and emergency procedures are adhered to in line with company policy.
- Coach and support staff development to maximise staff performance, motivation and contribution.
- Manage and monitor staff to ensure contractual obligations and company standards are met at all times
- Organise and manage the provision of timely accurate data for management recording and decision making
- Implement and monitor effective ACDT systems to minimise incidents and issues within the Centre.
- Monitor and manage the operation of the detainee incentives scheme to ensure consistent application throughout the Centre.
- Manage resources effectively and efficiently to ensure quality of service and best value for money.
Undertake other managerial duties as required to ensure the smooth and effective running of the Centre
Qualifications
- Management or supervisory experience within a custodial environment is required.
Additional Information
Health and Safety responsibilities:
- Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times;
- Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment;
- Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received;
- Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system;
Information Security:
- Ensure compliance with Mitie's information security procedures in all activities;
- Proactively identify and report security risks to your manager;
- Report actual and suspected security incidents;
