Description:
The Operations Manager leverages exceptional leadership skills and a strong understanding of technology to design and improve tools and processes that enable our OFS staff to deliver best in-class solutions to our employees and customers. This position drives change management and organizational best practice. The Operations Manager will primarily focus on process design, process improvement, personnel & operational readiness and accountability associated with our Afghanistan task order for the DLITE II contract. The Operations Manager will work closely with the Operations and Program Management team to review internal processes, drive innovation, collaborate with leadership and staff and contribute to the development and implementation of new practices that are executed by department personnel. The Operations Manager will be required to build and maintain positive relationships within and across the spectrum of MEP staff in both CONUS and OCONUS. The Operations Manager will also manage the day to day movement operations cell.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

•Manage process improvements, identify waste, and develop new methodology for Operations and Movement departments

•Perform business process gap analysis, quality control and assurance measures to all Operations department activities

• Work with Quality Control department to enhance the program and develop and implement SOPs

•Create new SOPs and perform annual updates on program specific SOPs.

•Travel to other locations (CONUS, AFRICOM, and EUCOM AORs) to coordinate process improvements as necessary

•Participate or lead process review and improvement board

•Coordinate with Theater Operations personnel to review current requirements, priorities, and processes

•Maintain constant communication with staff to cross level operational information

•Attend meetings, training programs, and counseling sessions with operational staff as needed.

•Promote and foster positive customer relationships and customer satisfaction for linguist support through daily contact with various levels of Military points of contacts (POC)

•Ensure compliance with contract Statement of Work

•Update and maintain operational data and reports, as required

•Conduct in-processing briefings and operational briefings, as required

•Train the Operations staff of new process and procedures and ensure that SOPs are updated to reflect current processes

•Conduct site visits throughout Afghanistan and support all other departments when required

• Perform other duties as assigned

 

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

 

Lifting of 50 lbs may be required. This is a 100% deployed position.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

• Previous operational experience working with linguists in support of Government operations (Contractor/Military Afghanistan theater experience preferred)

• Willingness to travel throughout Afghanistan


Requirements:

•Five to seven (5-7) years experience with Operations and Process Management

•One to three (1-3) years of experience working in the Middle East (Afghanistan preferred)

•Must be a US Citizen with a US Passport

•Strong grasp of change management and organizational change best practices

•A demonstrated combination of exceptional communication skills, leadership ability and strong understanding of technology

•Lean Six Sigma or other relevant process improvement certification as required

•Experience using Visio and other process mapping tools

•Strong Knowledge of M/S Office to include Excel

•Thorough understanding of process tools and the ability to create, maintain and brief processes

•Advanced communication skills

•Ability to work in fast-paced, complex, and dynamic environment

•Must be flexible and able to work in a team environment

•Must be willing to travel throughout Afghanistan and to other locations

•Strong attention to detail

•Must be a solid decision maker


•Bachelors degree in related field preferred

•One to three (1-3) years of experience working in Afghanistan preferred

•PMP or other relevant project management certification highly preferred

• Thorough knowledge of cultural, economic, geopolitical, and military issues of the Middle East is a plus
