Hazardous Materials Specialist - ERT
Job Location: Afghanistan
Type: Contract
# of Openings: 3
Status: Full-Time

Primary Function
Provide support to Environmental Response Site Teams and to assist with the investigation for the development of environmental assessments. This position is responsible for the management of any Environmental Response Team Transition Yards where control and treatment of Hazardous Waste is performed.  Actively support and uphold the Company’s stated vision, mission, and values.

Essential Functions
Ensure that Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times
Manage all aspects of hazardous material and hazardous waste storage, packaging, shipping and disposal
Complete and submit all associated paperwork as required for equipment records and waste tracking
Operate and perform preventative and daily checks on equipment
Conducts weekly and monthly hazmat inspections
Maintains and tracks program progress and updates technical requirements, associated resource program needs, and schedules
Provides timely completion of project within established time-lines and budgets
Perform daily maintenance duties and communicate any problems or issues with project management immediately upon discovery
Operate equipment in a safe manner consistent with Standard Operating Procedures of the equipment
Provide follow-up and to ensure that corrective actions are tracked, and effectively communicate with project management
Assist in the proper packaging of waste to maximize efficiently and maintain compliance
Transport and store wastes to waste storage area and ensure that each is properly packaged, profiled and labeled

Job Requirements
Must have a minimum three (3) years of experience in hazardous materials management
Must have 8-hour Hazardous Waste Supervisor Certification
OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER Train the Trainer Certification or similar training
Fork Lift training, Licensed Backhoe and Bobcat Operator required
4-hour DOT HazMat Basic General Awareness or OSHA 4-hour First Response Awareness required
OSHA 8-Hour Permit Required Confined Space preferred
Must be able to pass a detailed background investigation at a frequency as required by contract
Must be able to meet the physical requirements dictated by project requirements
Must possess valid passport
Must be fluent in speaking and writing the English Language
Must have valid driver's license
Must be able to pass a physical approving candidate for overseas work
Must be eligible for US Security Clearance
If former military, must have received an honorable discharge
Ability to identify problems, suggest solutions and react to change with a high degree of attention to detail
Preferred certifications to include:
Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM)
Certified Hazardous Materials Practitioner (CHMP)
