Position: Static Security Guard Commander
Nationality: Expatriate / Third Country National
Security Clearance: Background check
Role
The Static Security Guard Commander (SSGC) is responsible for assisting the SSO in
managing the static security guard force including:
1. mentor local guard and OCN personnel and oversee their day-to-day
responsibilities
2. assisting the SSSO in the event of an emergency or incident on the
compound
3. escort clients by foot and vehicle between Australian Embassy sites
4. Coordinate the security and defence of all Australian Embassy sites
during incidents
5. command, control and administration of team leaders.
Skills and Experience
The SSGC must have:
a) at least two (2) years; experience operating in high risk environments
b) previous military or law enforcement experience with an excellent
record of conduct. Must not have a criminal record and must not have
been dishonourably discharged from service or convicted under the
Defence Force Disciplinary Act (1982) (or equivalent) or terminated
from employment
c) at least one SSGC per shift with at a minimum, a Diploma in Paramedic
Science
d) sound knowledge and skill sets required to plan and conduct base
security operations, including managing a static guard force in a high
threat environment
e) excellent communication skills, with experience in multiple levels of
communication between various levels of security management,
internal and external
f) excellent leadership skills and
g) English language skills (English language level (ELL) – Beginner).
Desirable
a) previous experience working in a diplomatic environment
b) previous in-country experience in a similar capacity and
c) a working knowledge of the local language
