Role
The Intelligence Officer (IO) is responsible for the intelligence planning function including:
1. identify, develop and maintain relationships with primary information sources
2. liaise closely with the Situational Awareness Team
3. assist the Intelligence Analyst with reporting requirements
4. liaising with other security/intelligence agencies in order to provide accurate and timely intelligence and
5. provide daily intelligence reporting and analysis at a daily security operations meeting
Skills and Experience
The IO must have:
a) at least two (2) years experience operating in high risk environments
b) previous military or law enforcement experience of five (5) years, with
an excellent record of conduct. Must not have a criminal record and
must not have been dishonourably discharged from service or
convicted under the Defence Force Disciplinary Act (1982) (or
equivalent) or terminated from employment
c) completed Defence Intelligence Research (and) Analysis Course or equivalent
d) excellent leadership skills
e) experience with risk management including risk management planning
and qualitative risk analysis and
f) excellent communication skills, with experience in multiple levels of
communication between various levels of management, internal and
external.
Desirable
a) previous experience working in a diplomatic environment
b) previous in-country experience in a similar capacity and
c) a working knowledge of the local language.
